GARZWEILER NOISE

The installation make use of sound to document the mining exploiting process of Garzweiler opencast coal mines and explore topics such as soundscape transformations, noise pollution and sound-activism. The piece has been composed using fied-recordings captured in the area surrounding the mines. It include recordings from 2012 of villages that no longer exists. Empty towns, demonstrations and protests. The constant noise of the pit mine, the sounds from “Unser Aller Wald” and the eviction of Lützerath.
